Seva-Simran-Siri Kaur can teach either one single condensed class to one family, or to a few families, in our Home-Office or gathered together in your home; or two- or four-part classes offering even more guided practice time. Classes approximately 1.5 hours, $30/family. Additional travel fee to your home $30.)
Mothers (and fathers/grandparents/caregivers) will learn to interact with their babies through loving, healthy touch. You will be taught the benefits and contraindications of infant massage, MANY gentle massage techniques, how to help with colic and gastric discomforts, “yogic” massage points, fun exercises, movements and songs.
Baby massage is a tool to facilitate parents being with their baby in a calm and centered way. Baby massage helps you read your baby's cues because it's all about communication and intent, and about creating ritual and routine and stability.
You'll learn how to milk the legs, jiggle the calves, soothe the soles; water wheel and sun and moon for the tummy, swooping for the back and loving heart for the chest; and why massaging the fingers and toes is beneficial. You'll also learn sweet songs to sing during some of the strokes, suggestions as to the best times to massage your baby, the kind of massage oil to use, and so much more!
After learning infant massage, many parents report feeling more comfortable and confident in their ability to care for baby, and infant massage provides an additional avenue for bonding because of its close and nurturing contact. And it's so much fun to do!
Please bring to class: Your baby (or a baby doll if you want to learn the techniques before your baby is born), and padding for your baby to lie on, plus something absorbent for pee. Please wear comfortable clothes because you may be sitting on the floor.
Classes taught by Seva-Simran-Siri Kaur (aka Seva), who has been practicing and teaching massage therapy for 40+ years.
